Myself, wife and son are looking for like-minded people to get together with. We have been prepping for a few years but have decided that we need to be apart of a small group of like-minded. We enjoy camping, fishing hunting and shooting. Just thought we would see who is in the area. Thanks

Cant beleive how hard it is to find people who understand whats happenening with our FREEDOMS and how many are IGNORING IT.Sorry but having Christian Morals is a priority, along with family values, not Dancing with the Stars or American Idol. Military officer exploring options for a group

Greetings,

I am a regular Army officer with about 7 or so years until i expect to retire. I am exploring options for purchasing land near a group or rereat area that adheres to the principles articulated by James Rawles in his various works and web site. I explain a bit about my background and then layout the options paths i am exploring.

I am looking for advice, comments, or even to establish contacts for a long term exploration of preparing a site for my family, either as a stand alone family style location, near a set of like minded families, or even to buy land adjacent to an current retreat location for an existing group of people like in the book Patriots. Location is open, but must adhere to Awles principles, and others such as the book Strategic Relocations.

Background: Regular Army Field Grade, MFE branch (maneuver, fires and effects as the branches were reorganized several years ago),  screening for Bn Cmd this year and next. I have several deployments with close combat experience, and lots of combat patrols leading men under fire. Also have battle staff experience, again in an operational environment. I am married, 15 years now, 4 kids, with my oldest son joining the Ranger regiment this summer. My military niche is is operations, training, and planning. And of course leading Soldiers. I have a TS-SCI at present.

I’d like to find property in east Texas or the Palouse hills area of the NW. Options include making my family farmstead out alone, abutting another retreat area, or even joining the Right group.

My skills are mainly military skills, but i am starting to learn farming skills now, into my second year with a large garden plot on my 2 acers i own now near my base of assignment. I am mostly prepared for about 4 months, but am going to play the odds and wait to acquire a long term retreat site for a few years, building my skills and establishing a network of folks that are similar in mid set.

I am taking a slow, deliberate approach and am interested in establishing contact with folks in the Ralwsian mind set, and building relationships over time. The size land i am looking for is about a 100 acers but that of course has many tactical variables that could shrink the size or expand it.

This is a great forum. To the webmaster, i would be cautious about plants etc, as in my work, i have access to certain knowledge regarding HLS and the like. But i am sure you are considering that.

I’m sort of a jack-of-all-trades, with an intense need to constantly learn more.  My day job is a software engineer with the “Evil Empire”, and my evening job is caring for close to 100 animals on my farm and currently running a Aquaponic feasibility test for farm fresh vegetables, fruit, and fish.  I am also a Foster parent.  I have always been a down-home type of guy, I tend to over-think projects and over-build… for example, last year I built a simple chicken coop that turned into a fully automated system on wheels that could probably navigate itself to the moon.  Inventor by heart, an INTJ professionally speaking.  I don’t give much thought or care to events that “possibly could” happen, or have the same probability as the Earth collapsing on itself.  But, the one thing I do know is that the USA is living a pipe dream, and someday that drug addition bill is gonna come due.  Our deficit is “according to ZeroHedge” close to 169% of GDP, while the government tells us we are just tipping past 100%.  They tell us inflation is negligible, but since the 1980′s, they no longer use fuel and food in those calculations… try closer to 12%.  Unemployment numbers continue to drop… mostly because it doesn’t count the under-employed AND those that drop off of the unemployment rolls… general unemployment closer to 19%.  Even worse, some minority groups are upwards of 30%, some job fields such as construction, 35%… and worse of all, ages 16-25 – 49% unemployment!  National Debt… $15.6 Trillion… Or is it?  No, try $135 Trillion (we have to add all the unfunded liabilities too, a liability is still a liability)

Now that we got all that doom and gloom done with… what am I looking for?  People that are like-minded, conscious, aware, sane, that have some hope for the future… that are relatively local.  Who am I?  35-45.  Soon to be Single.  Christian-minded – but not associated to a specific church.  Used to be very conservative, but now more of a libertarian – I have seen the light!  I believe in our Constitution and want our country to start following it once again.  Hard-working, Honorable, Strong Integrity, Highly-Intelligent, and generally pretty easy to get along with.

There is a lot that I lack knowledge of and perhaps that number one issue on my farm is I am still tied to the electrical grid for just about everything.  I did add in a wood stove last year, so that gives me heat and limited cooking during power interruptions, but my well is electric and I don’t have a solution for that yet.  Not enough sun for solar here, maybe a small wind turbine. I have a small portable generator – but what good it that if there is no fuel?
