I’m with Charleston Home + Design Magazine

For the past 8 years, we have organized the Charleston Hurricane Expo and have viewed this event as an important way to motivate the public to prepare in advance for a hurricane or disaster.

This year we are changing the name of the Charleston Hurricane Expo to the Charleston Hurricane + Disaster Expo taking place Friday, August 24, 2012 at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium. We will have two “Disaster Simulations” at the expo; one a hurricane simulation and one an earthquake simulation where a team of doctors from the Charleston Medical Society will treat “victims” of these disasters.

We are interested in talking to local “preppers” about having them attend the Charleston Hurricane + Disaster Expo and speak to the public about the steps it takes to prepare for a disaster. Ideally we’d ask that someone bring a few items from home to show the public as well (vegetables or fruit you have canned at home, etc.). I understand that some may desire to remain “low profile” in the publics eye and we’d be happy to accommodate in any way by keeping your identities private or anonymous.

If anyone is interested in helping us this year at the Charleston Hurricane + Disaster Expo, please let us know at your earliest convenience.

thanks sooo much!!!

Looking for some boots on the ground info concerning the Springs area and west post fire.  Have been eyeing a few properties along the 24 corridor and can’t find a straight ansewer online as to the fires final burn lines.  If anyone has a link to a good map of the effected area or any helpful information I would be grateful.

Also seeking “established” individuals and small family units.

His servant and yours.

1st annual OFF THE GRID EXPO which will feature emergency preparedness, survival gear & gun show.

Saturday—Sunday August 4th & 5th from 10am-5pm.  We will feature 50 + vendors and will be reaching out to other various organizations and companies that fit the needs of OFF THE GRID EXPO!

We feel that the way the current economy is heading with our rights being stripped away before our eyes, the public needs to be aware and start becoming self sufficient.  In addition the average household does not have the 3-day food, water, first aid supply that FEMA suggests having, which is defiantly below minimum based on their response time.   Living in Southern California along the San Andreas fault, we especially should be prepared since we are on an earthquake zone.  Families should have a place to learn fire & earthquake safety and a chance to do their shopping or planning under one roof.

Old World Restaurant & Festival Hall, is a family business owned and operated for 35 years, located in Huntington Beach, California.  We are best known for OKTOBERFEST & the WIENERDOG RACES.  We can accommodate 2000 people at one time so we plan to get lots of people here in the 2-day period.  We will be printing 10,000+ flyers, email blasting, banners and lawn signs in and around Orange County.

Join us on this OFF THE GRID EXPO! With all the recent hype on National Geographic with the latest show Doomsday Preppers and the upcoming elections to the situation in IRAN as well as the growing national debt and uncertainty of the Euro, we feel now is the time that an expo of this nature will be taken seriously and well needed for this area.

Our local NRA and the HUNTERS CLUB meet monthly at our establishment.  They too will be on board with this event.

Hope to see you there, and if anyone is interested in becoming a vendor, please email me at cyndie [at] oldworld [dot] ws.

Hello,

Thought I would try my had at actually posting something instead of just reading.

 Here is our situation:

For the past several years or so, my family and I have been trying to “live off the land” as much as possible.  We still do quite a bit of shopping each month for stuff, but have come to the point where we raise all of our own meat, and a lot of our vegetables.  Still purchasing wheat, has we couldn’t seem to get the knack of threshing by hand.

We are on 4-arces in NW Cole County, and everything is paid for.  Not that the government couldn’t confiscate it all with the “Eminent Domain” laws that are on the books.

Presently, we are looking for a larger piece of property that we can do a bit more with.

It would be good to meet more folks in our area who are also praying, planning, and prepping.

 In Christ our Lord
