Hello I am a newer member and I am finding preppin to be  very overwhelming. I am a single mother of two teens and a disabled veteran. I live in a rental and have a very tight budget. I have no idea where to start. What to buy. How to keep everything stored for long periods of time. I not sure if there are mentors or even if that is allowed but I certainly could use some direction. I have started an herb garden and I plan on creating medIcinal dried herbs along with cooking dried herbs. I also have above ground gardens and plan on canning and drying the veggies that I harvest. I only have a couple of veggies that will grow in the S TX summer so I have been stock piling seeds for my fall gardens. By then all my above ground gardens will be finished and ready to plant. Now I am stuck on what to do next and what to purchase. (I did purchase heirloom seeds 1pkg of a full garden, fruit seeds, and protein seeds but I am not sure how many pkgs to purchase for future use. I am storing the seed pkgs in the fridge right now). Beyond this I have no idea what else to do and where to start. Running out and spending tons of money for supplies is not going to happen. We are on a very tight budget. I seriously could use advise and direction. And if there are groups forming in S TX I would love to join so that I can learn as much as possible and have other people that I can talk to that don’t look at me as if I am nuts. Hello! I am seeking like minded people in the Dayton ohio area, maybe a little farther. We havnt much time left, so finding a prep group i think is PART of prepping! Only having 2 or 3 people wont keep you safe from groups of theives, or worse. We have knowledge of firearms and trust me, we are not afraid to use them :) I wont mention all that we do to prep, but if we had a group, we could blend our protection, supplies, ideas, plan B locations (we plan on staying IN if at all possible, but you always need a plan B location to go to) We have a few ideas but it never ever hurts to have more minds thinking. We are experianced with a majority of skills to help us get by. Please email me, i can give you my number and we can set something up. A GROUP is not a dictatorship, we arent battling over power, so we ALL would need to work together, trust each other, and SURVIVE. My husband and I live in central Iowa. We are truck drivers, and have 26 years of combined military service. We have been prepping for about 6 months. We want to get to know other preppers, because we know that it will be easier to join with others when things go bad.

Hola, y’all.  I hope you’re all very well.

If you’re one of these “Messianic” types, and prepping here in Idaho or Montana, etc… well, why don’t you drop me a line?

I’m newly arrived in these parts, I admit.  But, we’re seriously looking for a place to get settled in.  Would love to find some good friends.

I have one woman and four little ones, so far.  That’s who I brought with me to the Northwest… but I am certainly willing to add to those numbers.

We’re looking for a good place, with some nice folks who are compatible with us as neighbours and “got your back” types.  For those of you who know what I’m saying, we are Torah-pursuant believers in Y’shua the Messiah.  Others who are like that, would be the closest fit for us, in terms of becoming neighbours and partners-in-prepping.

Are you looking for more like-minded families of a similar walk/faith with you?

Our info is: that we brought pretty good preps, as far as veaponry goes.  Our food preps we left back east, but I have money to re-establish those here (halelluYah).  I presently have a good income (again, thanks be to the father).  After doing business in the early part of the day, I’d like to spend my afternoons working the agricultural and prepping side of things.  Oh, we’re 30-somethings.

I have to get a few things done, right now, so I’ve got to run… but if your interest is at all piqued, please feel free… feel encouraged… to contact me.

Oh, I must say, dear ones… I and my family will not fit real snugly into one of those feminazi groups.  If your community of prepper friends is trying to carry western-style feminism/chivalry/women’srights etc into a post-SHTF world, then I’ll just say up-front that we’re not going to help carry that part.  If you are one to say “ladies first”, or if you would try to push monogamy onto people who have lost half their men fighting, etc… well, we’re just a little more serious than that.  I’m just letting you know, in advance, to save you some time.  We treat respectable men with respect; and we treat honorable women honorably.  We don’t treat women as though they were men, nor vice versa.  And, we don’t treat harlots or feminists as though they were ladies.

I sure hope that you’re having a lovely day.  We’re outside McCall for the next few nights (seems like we missed the skiing season), but we’re looking farther north to find a good place.

SD Prepping Like No Other

I’m new to prepping and this will be my first post on this website. While I am new to prepping that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to prepare for the shtf Mind you, the sh8t is coming, if you have had that feeling like things are building up and something big is coming then you are not alone.

This initial post will serve as an introduction of myself and a background to prepping in general and especially in South Dakota’s (SD) rugged terrain and climate. Preparing your prepping location in SD has many advantages and several disadvantages. I will not go through everything in this initial post, but I do hope to spark other interest, which leads to action for prepping a SD based location.

About Me
To begin with, my name and exact location will be kept confidential because frankly I don’t know you and don’t trust you. I am under 30, was born in SD and have lived here all my life. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. I know a lot about everything and I wouldn’t list the list here because frankly it would be too long, but I mainly know how to prepare for survival and what is needed. I knew a lot about leadership and what it takes to be a good leader. Everyone always seems to want to lead, but every person needs to know when to lead and when to follow. A good leader is essential to prepping and surviving. I have high morals and standards and do believe in God. I also have funds to put towards this project. Trust is the most important virtue, without it a person is nothing. No I am not crazy and no I don’t want to build a commune for weird sh8t, I simply want to survive what is coming.

The Plan
Phase I (1-3 months). To forge an alliance with several highly moral people with varying and important skills needed to survive what is coming. Important skills needed include: medical, engineering, construction, utilities, security, farming/plants, communication, and $ (While I will not go into detail right now, I will explain the importance of each in upcoming posts). With the right people and an alliance formed then phase II can begin.

Phase II (1 month). Phase II will consist of identifying and acquiring a location to build a retreat (under ground and above ground bunker). Once a location has been identified the group (allied members) will decide how large to build the structure and the number of people that will be allowed to live at the compound (shelter). This is where things get serious and is no longer talk, but action. At this point is where the rules will be decided among the group.

Phase III (4-6 months). Begin construction on the shelter/compound. Now the situation becomes more serious and people will actually have to contribute funds to make this happen. Everyone involved will have a share and ownership because everyone will provide funds to the cause. In order for anything real to be done $ must be found/acquired. Once the shelter is complete, I expect maintenance and on going costs to be minimal, because the shelter/compound will be self-sustaining.

Phase IV (1-2 months). People who want to move into the new compound will be able and those who wish to continue working or doing what they want will be allowed. Those who continue to do whatever will have a reserved spot to come to whenever they want and will always be part of the family, unless they sell their portion to another member of the group. Those living at the shelter will be assigned to tasks to maintain the compound and self-sustaining lifestyle. Everyone will work and work at what they are best at.

Serious inquiries will include: current occupation, list of skills and trades, age, estimation of funds for use in the project, moral standards, any rural property for use as project location, how many people you expect to bring along and their skills/uses. I don’t need to know your name or location because frankly, I like frankly, your name or location doesn’t matter at this point. I first need to know if you will be useful to the group and what kind of person you are.

I am the lead organizer of a 70 member group called the astern NC Preppers. Its mainly for Preppers east of Greensboro but open for everyone. I have been prepping for 10 years, seriously the last couple. My core belief is having the skills and tools to survive rather than having the goods and gear. I started this multi-site group for the following reasons

- Networking with your fellow Prepper and Miltia member

- Idea mixing

- Skill set cross-training

- Forge bonds for when they are needed

Please Note the following:

1. We will not be hiking at a fast pace, however the hike is a little over 2 miles total. If you think you can not make it or feel like you can not go on we will try to secure a couple of picnic tables as a base area that are close to the parking lot. Also please note bring lots of WATER. Even with tree cover in June the temperatures could easily be above  80 degrees in the shade.

2. Raven Rock is a state park, so please familiarize yourself with the rules of NC State Parks if you are not already familiar especially reguarding firearms and destruction of nature resources (http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/raro/rules.php).

3. Their will be a “Base Camp” for those that do not wish to hike. A base camp leader will be on hand to ensure important questions and matters brought up is presented to a group organizer. Any subjects talked about during the hike will be discussed briefly once the hiking group returns to base camp

We have connected with 1 person but they are in NW ND more than 250 miles away his family and preps sound great but we can’t relocate to their town

I’m willing to leave behind alot just to be prepared and start over. I dont think it should all be about money. I’m willing to train in defense to defend others if needed. we are looking for others in casa grande, az., to coordinate with, beleiving that there is strength in numbers. we have been prepping for over a year. still looking for ways to keep all safe at home, as bugging out is not an option. we have most preps for about 6 months, and need to protect from looters etc., that are sure to come out of the woodwork when shtf..
