Time permitting, Costa Rica might be a great location to relocate should TSHTF here in the U.S.

They have no army, you can own land, they have 100′s of micro climates so you can find a climate that suits you best. They produce 90+% of their power via hydro-electric plants. The country is basically agrarian so people are used to living off the land. The water there is safe to drink.

If anyone is interested in exploring the possibilities with me, please contact me.

  1. I may have some free time on my hands in coming months – I am also interested in checking out Ecuador due to cost of living.

  2. I’ve thought of Costa Rica as well, but wondered if anyone has devised a plan for how to get out of the states of the SHTF? Airports would be shut down – etc…

  3. I just started thinking about Costa Rica myself about a month ago. Done some research looks very good,Jimaz if you would like too talk somemore write me back ,Jim in Phoenix .

  4. Just got back from two weeks in CR. Loved it and the people are very friendly “Pura Vida” or pure life is their saying. I think it is a good option, but do agree on how do you get there when everything is shut down here? Moving there right now is not an option for me.

  5. I am one step ahead of you, not Costa Rica though I live in Peru.
There are several reasons I chose Peru, several for the same reasons you
Stated. Here are some more, guns in Peru you can have rifles and shotguns
95% of the public do not have arms. So those that do, have a great advantage
to those that don’t Bring with you in night vision and sate of the art optics and things change
a lot. Also my money goes longer here, and my house is made of concrete umm
bullet proof. 95% of my food can be grown year a round the list goes on.

  6. I spent 5 wks in CR in late 2007. The thing I like about CR is that there is food everywhere, and the fishing is great–if things got bad,(things will get bad in the US long before CR, I believe)– you could just fade into the jungle, if needed and survive. But in the meantime, you could form a community in one of the small villages, or in some rural area. Also, the people are very friendly. I am going back to do more research in about 3 months. My main concern about survival is food, and everything grows abundantly in CR.

    • Yep the food, energy and health care are set, in CR. One only need to think about who are you going to be living near. Open invite to visit me and my family here, Tilaran Lake Arenal area.
