I'm a young college student in Texas looking to meet others because I have ALOT to learn. I am not sure where to start and figured having like minded people in my circle would help me learn quicker and figure out where to start. I have however figured out a five year plan that involves me finishing out my degree...unfortunately moving back in with my parents, hopefully get a teaching job at the school district i currently work for three years to save up about 90,000 to buy some land. As far as shelter I am interested in building a cob home or possibly log cabin. I choose these because they are cheaper and seem to be relatively low maintenance...cob being a clay and straw mixture is super cheap and anyone can build if they learn. Its also good at staying cool when it's hot and warm when its cool. It seems to me the best way to start my homestead debt free. I have noticed good land here in my beloved state is expensive which has led me to consider Tennessee and Kentucky which are i think great homestead and prepper locals. But before I get there I plan to learn how to shoot a gun, buy a guy or two as well, farming, animal husbandry, oh the list goes on. Some things i guess might be useful...I was lifeguard certified and first aid and CPR certified, i have recently started canning, uhhhm i ride horses if that matter. used to own chickens and am pretty good at catching them lol. Ok so yeah i am a work in progress. Anyway i'm just hoping to meet new people i guess because everyone in my family and friend circle thinks i am nuts lol.
