My husband and I are 45 and 34, respectively, and we have a 2 ½ year old daughter as well as a 9 year old Labrador. We have a very large Paid Off(!) house on about a half-acre in a very small town in central North Dakota. The house in its current configuration has 9 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on three floors plus a full basement; we plan to change that to 8 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The town has a whopping 45 residents. We also have 10 acres in another centrally located state that is only 1 month and 4 days from being paid off (!) That land is beautiful, but it is raw land with no improvements other than the road in and that is 4 wheel drive only. We travel for work all of the time right now, and had been prepped on a small scale for a long time and had been storing our stuff on the 10 acres (since it was centrally located) but the location was unattended and sadly we were robbed of most our goodies. So we have begun laying away again slowly in amounts that we can keep with us at all times. We are taking steps to move to the house very soon (probably mid-April) and begin prepping in earnest to make that our main bug-in/bug-out location. It has always been our goal to live as self-sufficiently as possible while making use of the grid yet being ready for it to fail. We have many skills and are pretty handy with a toolbox. The house needs a lot of work. It’s well worth it and has many excellent features as well. We are looking for some friends (extended family) that can benefit from the space we have in excess and have skill sets we don’t. (There’s always room for a carpenter and a medic, lol)

I would like to thank all who have inquired. We feel like we have had great response (7 in two weeks). It is a big house although space is limited. Pets are welcome but subject to approval (inside or outside)

We are not looking for someone to provide security while we feed them or someone to feed us while we provide security for them. We think working together and recognizing each other’s strengths and weaknesses will make a much stronger bond between members.

This is not for everyone however it is for some if this is you feel free to contact us, ask anything that’s on your mind, we will answer. CountryandPeaches[at]live[dot]com.

P.S. Unlike other groups we have seen you can occupy (if all agree) i.e. we accept you and you accept us at will. We do expect a certain amount of participation. In our opinion you should be able to realize and employ the benefits of your efforts as it pertains to your situation.

I have sort of a MAG (Mutual Assistance Group) here in SoCal. I am big on sharing knowledge, and I am big on testing out plans and ideas. When I build a machine, I like to see it work. If that sounds like your cup of tea, read on. I think the time has come to continue to expand my small group, so here we go.

Why show up?
Well, you get some access to me. I am a sharp cookie. I bring a lot to the table, and there is little I have found I cannot do. Read my posts in the forum to get a gist of how much I am *not* spinning a line of ego or BS. This is something I take seriously, but I am also living my life with reasonable comforts. That means I can help you get serious business done, but I am sociable, as people go. The other group members also bring helpful things with them, we cover nearly every topic one needs for a proper end-to-end survival gig. I also teach classes at the local prepper group: http://meetup.com/PalmdalePreppers watch me there if you like. If it is prepping related, I have probably done it.

Why this group?
Because we might be local to you. If you are able to drive, and are in the southern California/high desert area. Because the group is serious about getting stuff done, but also not nazi commandos about missing a weekend. Because you need not subscribe to a particular philosophy other than perhaps wanting to out-live your fellow man. Because you have something to share. Because you want to prove your great ideas wrong to make them better, and you need some help with that. Because you are not sure where to start. Or where to pick back up. Or where to go next. Or want to help your fellow man learn a new trick.

How would it work?
We do a first date. I talk with you over coffee (unless you know someone already in the group, and they vetted you). A place that is neutral, and public. I like coffee, you can drink what you like. I decide if you are sane, and available.
Next we discuss a few hook projects. What interests you? Solar power? Diesel engines? Marksmanship? And if we mesh ideas, we plan a weekend and a project. You meet some people over beer. I like beer, you can drink what you prefer. If you like it, you come back.

What should I expect?
Work. Really, you have to try at this. You need to arrive consistently, practice things, opt in for the hard learning. Spend some money, maybe. Treat it like a hobby that has some meaning. And if you want the better benefits, like access to the super secret bunker or a place to cache things, expect to help pitch in on labor. Do not expect a partial ownership, sorry. Do expect to get dirty. It is hard to shoot prone in a rush without getting a little dirt on your BDUs.

Where will this go?
Well, we are a Mutual Assistance Group. We assist. Which means you might be stuck somewhere and need a jump, or you might need a post-$HTF armed retreat with escort. It is a good place to learn and get some exposure to a wide range of topics that would be extraordinarily difficult to do on your own. You can build it as you like. I suppose a few people I might take all the way with me. That will take a while. Patience, grasshopper.

What do I do next?
Well, mull it over. If you are local. If you have maybe something to contribute, and a desire to learn. If it is something you might enjoy, but can treat with some seriousness, dive right in. Put a reply here with your email. Or a temp email. I will respond. You can also PM me on the forum. Even if you find this post 6 months later, and surely I have forgotten about it. How do you think I found this site?

Bonus Round
I am specifically looking for someone with experience in the following: communications, piloting, TIG welding, masonry, tactics, electrical engineering, machining, mechanic/vehicular.

I am currently interested in joining or helping to start a preppers mutual assistance group in central N.D.  Currently their is a group that is forming and it is just starting out and quite small.  Speaking for myself I like people from all over the country, and the world for that matter, as I am sure most in the group do, but if you are not currently in N.D., or very near the border,  this would probably not be the best group for you.  If you are planning on moving to N.D. great, but it’s hard to meet and make a lot of plans until AFTER you have arrived and found a place to stay.  I don’t think we want the wanna-be Rambo types either.  In my opinion this group would be looking for people who are like minded, want to be prepared for as many potential problems as possible, have some skills or assets to contribute to the group, and can practice good opsec.

A little info about myself.  I am a married man, early 40′s.  I spent 4 years in the army airborne infantry (11C1P).  I have 8 years experience in law enforcement as well.  I grew up hunting, and camping, and loved shooting and learned how to reload when I was young also.  My wife is in her late 30′s, and she has a lot of medical training.  Our 4 children range in age from 8-15.

I myself currently have a BOL in central N.D. (less than 1/2 tank of gas drive from my home), that is approx. 4 1/2 acres with a well (there is also a small portion of a larger pond jutting into my property). There is a large quonset hut with a cement floor that’s in pretty good shape, and a few other small wooden buildings.  It also has several grain bins that I usually rent out.  I would like to take most of the buildings down, except the quonset, and a couple grain bins maybe. It is surrounded by farmland, there are some shelter belts in the distance as well, and the closest town about 1/2 mile a way is VERY small, less than 100 residents, who are mostly farmers and their families.   It is fairly flat, but I would still like to do a little landscape to it and plant what would basically be a large garden.  I would like to keep the small pond area with the cattails, as it attracts ducks and geese, also deer like to occasionally like to bed down in the cattails.  I would also like to get some bee hives and maybe a greenhouse on it.  I was also thinking about perhaps planting the perimeter with some trees and bushes to help keep wind out and make a bit more shelter for pheasants and grouse.  This is unfortunately something that isn’t going very fast since I still have 4 kids in school with activities all year long not to mention a 90 mile drive 1 way just to get there.  Anybody in the central N.D. area interested in putting in some labor in helping me get it fixed up as a fully proper BOL, would certainly earn a fair amount of the fruits of that labor, and in a SHTF scenario, the quonset hut could house several people, especially if it was to get some interior design makeovers before hand.  Anyone serious about joining the group or helping feel free to PM me, or join the Central N.D. Mutual Support Group site.  [url]http://www.ndmsg.webs.com[/url]

Thanks.

Looks like they are giving another shot at forming a group. Need some more people to show up than last year, and while lots of people always say they are going to show up, few do, then it seems like most just want to play show and tell with their bug out bags and guns.

Putting feelers out to see whats out there in and around the Houston area.  I want to see if there is already established MAGs or people who are interested in establishing a MAG.

Trying to keep it to people within the general area for the possibility of being able to meet on multiple occasions  (with relative ease) and other prepping activities.

Let me know
Cheers

I am looking to form a network of sorts of folks who want to be prepared but also want to live as normal a life as possible.  I am not looking for snake eaters or anarchists.

I am looking for folks who have a shelter in place unless you HAVE to go mentality.  The network I envision would be one of mutual assistance for survival, defense, etc. Eventually the purchase of a “homestead” of sorts where a weekend get away could be set up where families each have ownership rights and a plot with garden space and space for an RV or cabin. If things ever went the way we all hope it won’t the getaway could become our defensible refuge until things return to normal.

Drop me an email at thickheadedmick [at] yahoo [dot] com and let’s discuss!

I’ve long tried to decide what the line between waiting it out and bugging out it. I’m come to the conclusion, that I could probably wait it out forever.  (people “lived” in any example you can throw at me). Honestly it’s the fact that I can no longer take part (even passively) in good conciseness with what is happening that has driven me to the point to where  I am. I am going to spend the rest of my time learning and honing my skills of living in the wild and prepping local areas for all my loved ones.

I’m not looking to fight back or any such nonsense, honestly I suspect that time has come and gone.  What I am looking to do is build BOL next to everybody I care about and plant edible foods in the area while killing off the poisonous.

If you want to learn  how to live (well) off the land, build a BOL next to your loved ones or just want to hone your skills until the time comes send me a message at tigsteele (at) gmail (dot) com

I’m heading off on 4/30 (the Corona/Elsinore area), but will be online frequently if intermittently after that (so don’t think I’m ignoring you)

Hope to hear from like minded people,

Tig

From the US131 corridore to the Huron shore and north of M55 to the bridge. We’re a group of friends and families just trying to figure out how the pioneers lived as the nation grew up and expanded west. 19th century style living(without electricity). Low tech farming and existance.
We’d love to be as set-up as the characters from JWR’s “Patriots”, without moving out west to Idaho. But, without the college degrees like the characters had, that’s not feasible because money’s really tight.
We don’t allow any -ists or -isms in our group, we screen potential members prior to admission for felonies and “checkered pasts”. We adhere to and swear on oath to the constitutions of the state and nation. We hold judeo-christian ethics of charity & compassion(when warranted) w/o the proselyting. We practice 19th century lifestyle techniques of existance farming & survival, holistic/natural cures & remedies learned from native americans, marksmanship and self defense. In other words we’re American preppers. If you’re in the area and want to find out more, drop me an email. Afterall, we are in the same “neck of the woods” and there’s security in numbers. nmv49738[at]yahoo[dot]com.

I totaly agree with meeting people close to you, see what there doing and what not. But everyone believes what they want to believe. But people need to meet on this site from all over. Comment on peoples posts talk to each other. Because in this day and age with all the travel we do for fun and work, we never know where we will be when anything happens. So knowing more people like us only helps all of us in the long run. Thats my thoughts!!

Hey all been a member here for a while now and posted a couple of times under a different nickname

looking to network with other preppers.Ive had some success although the person im thinking of kind of petered out as a prepper and some failure which i wont go into except to say that “harsh” guy is right to be the way he is.

Little about me Ive been a prepper since I was a kid did not think of myself back then as one but I guess I was since at 14 I stashed food and tools ready for the inevitable nuclear destrution LOL after watching the movie The Day After

That movie realy freaked me out as a kid.

Well initially in my early prepper years I was a head for the hills and live of the land type of prepper when the first gulf war was in action I made caches of food and equipment in the mountains near a cave and water supply I knew of.

As Ive goten older and I hope wiser I have changed from a solo head for the hills type to a group type prepper and to what I now think of as a community type prepper.

If I can use the Rawles story patriots/triple ought as an example of a group prep situation and the books one second after or lucifers hammer as a community prep situation.

A solo prep and group prep I believe can all fall within a community prep if need be in fact i think they should. I have children now and i think being part of a community is the way to go.

So where im at at the moment you may ask Im prepped (never fully) I’m bugged out to a good location and am working hard at developing a sustainable food supply but im still basically solo although there is a good comunity about 10 miles away that I think could pull together during tshtf and that is why I picked this area . but at the moment its just a sleepy little town in rural America.

My skills and what I have to offer

First in tune with how my prepping developed im a wilderness survival expert it sounds romantic to some head to the hills and live of the land like a aboriginal but most would not succeed I’m one of very few who could. LOL and I know enough to know I’d rather not.

Second I have many skills which have developed from hobbys but would be a carreer back in the 1800,s like blacksmithing for example animal husbandry and farming for others many many more as well.

Third I have modern technical skills mechanics, electronics I can work with communications gear, alternate power systems, repair, modify or rebuild mechanical equipment.also some military expierience but have never seen any combat and would rather not.

What im lacking is a group and preferably one that has a doctor, dentist or vetrinarion. I have been trying to develop my own and the “Harsh” guy lol is right I’m a day late and a dollar short it takes time I don’t think I have to weed out the freeloaders and worse from a group situation.

Yeah right you woke up 2 months or 2 years ago lol what were you doing before then? I mean I’m happy to help anyone if I can but i’m first going to help those who can also help me if I need it.

So right at the moment I’m considering trying to join another group that has been building group and community longer than myself even if that means packing up again and redeveloping another property.

“Harsh” guy your deal would not work for me unless there was nearby cheap land I could purchase to develop my own thing as well I don’t believe in having to bug out to a retreat but rather develop my life and business around being bugged in already if you know what i mean. There is no way I could move all my stuff in a bug out situation and i’d feel a little awkward setting up solar panels and greenhouses etc on someone elses land even if it was allowed.

I’m also still working on my own local and if I can find 1 or 2 good people or couples to move in and develop nearby then this would be a great spot as well. I just dont think I have the time anymore.

Oh what i’m prepping for is most everything in general but financial disaster, peak oil and food scarcity/cost seem all on the horizon.

Interested in western states but not CA

Looking to start a new category to the Prepper Group. It seems to me there are many out there looking for a more convenient way out of the mess coming in less than 12 months. The problem is sometimes we cannot drop everything we’re doing to ready ourselves to bug out to a safe place not nearby. I’d like to propose a MAG (mutual assistance group) for those of us who have skills and resources, but no safe place to go. Mag groups tend to be more open and larger than typical prepper groups.

The reason I’m on this site is because I’d like to see if there is enough interest out there for this type of group. Granted we don’t have a lot of time to organize and prepare so I’d like to begin as soon as possible.

Hello, I’m located in southwest Michigan and looking to form a MAG. If interested contact me directly at landanv1 [at] hotmail [dot] com.

Is there anybody out there in Ventura County willing to start a MAG. Maybe buy some land together and start some aquaponics, gardens or what have you to be better prepared. No matter what, we will need some help to survive what is coming and then be able to help the larger community afterwards. Let me know if you have any ideas on the subject. jayhenwood [at] yahoo [dot] com

looking to network with preppers in the NE Nevada area.

possibly setting up a trade network or a MAG.

also looking for someone or some group interested in moving to the area im in and setting up their own bug out location if they are not going to move to the area permanent.

The area i am in is very isolated yet beautifull and close to an ideal BOL and i would like to get some good neighbors move to the area ASAP.

I am not sure how i could go about screening who may be a good neighbor but thought we could chat some then maybee meet for a coffee.

I would like to establish contact with preppers in and around the Lynchburg, Va. area who are serious minded about the importance of preparing for future eventualities.  The purpose would be to exchange preparedness information between us, brainstorm occasionally, share experiences, all with the possible outcome of establishing a MAG in the area.  If interested, drop me an email.

The Texas Preparedness Group is always accepting new members. We have many localized Mutual Assistance Groups (MAGs) throughout the Texas region and the surrounding states that seek new members. We currently have over 700 members with each speaking for another 3.2 average persons not shown.

We have all types of people to network with on the site with experience levels from mild to major survivalists.  There is a robust chat, barter section, various meet-ups every month, training, and general survivalist mindset among the members. We welcome survivalists of all experience levels. Please come join us and find what you are looking for.

Note: Only the Main page is visible without signing up. This is to prevent spammers, and lurkers, and it works. When you sign up, you can use a screen name when asked for your “Full Name.” You will still be approved.
