After a recent flood of spam posts I re initiated my anti spam software and then sent off a mass email to ALL subscribers.
29 spam accounts have been deleted as well as a handful of accounts that appear to have left old email addresses.
I’m sorry for the mass mail – but it certainly lets me see what accounts registered are REAL and what are fake. 
A new chat area has been added as of March 14, 2013. It is where you can talk with others on topics related to prepping. The MAIN SITE you are on now, is JUST FOR POSTING CONTACTS! If you want to discuss best seeds, alternate fuels, camo preferences etc – the forum area is where you do that. [You will need to register for the new forum! It has it's own database, unlike the last forum which shared the database.]
The previous chat forum software was too unstable and after years of putting up with it (and it’s latest crash and burn!) I’ve created a new chat area using new software. http://www.preppergroups.com/forum
Unfortunately, the new forum is NOT integrated with the software this site uses – you will need to join it to be able to post.
Fortunately – it IS NOT made by the people who made the bug ridden forum we previously used (or tried to!).
If you haven’t read my post in the forum, at least read this. I just received another email from a user of the site whose Yahoo email account has been hacked.
Yahoo IS NOT a safe email option! Over the past few months I have been spammed by quite a lot of site users whose email address books at Yahoo have been used to send out fake emails on their behalf!
Don’t let this happen to you! Look for a safer option, or risk losing your contacts and having your account hacked at Yahoo (as so many hundreds of thousands have found to their regret!).
December 21 came and went, and unsurprisingly, the world didn’t end. A few shrewd people created instant web sites and sold “prepper gear” at highly inflated prices, and quite a few people took “early holidays” as they bugged out to await Mayan gods, ancient aliens or whatever other nightmare that has been dreamed up by the media in the last year or so.
What may have happened though, is that some people found that they actually felt “better” being prepared – even if it was for what was little more than a marketing ploy to sell books and play on peoples fears. These people should take some time to think on their current situation. They are now much better prepared for an emergency than they have probably ever been in their lives.
They now have the resources to provide for and to protect their families when the next hurricane, tornado, tsunami, earthquake – whatever – comes down the pipeline. I suppose many will just shakes their heads, look a little sheepish at falling for the whole Mayan prophecy machine and quietly dispose of their preps on eBay.
I’m hoping that some, however few, will look at how much being prepped has changed their mindset, that they’ll keep on prepping and keep on being ready to care for their families whatever the threat.
Watch out for a troll by the name of Vjeran Pavic.

I spotted the posts and deleted them, then told him to read the site and it’s warning to “press” before spamming it’s members – and got the reply below, which says it all.

We just had our first meet-up this past Saturday and what a great turn out. We had approx. 25 families join us as we learned about cooking with dehydrated foods and water filtration on a budget. Breaking Bread the Healthy Way (located 210 Jackson Keller) was there with lots from their store. If a request came from one of the attendees for something that they didn’t bring they went to the store to retrieve it! We also had lots of door prizes.

Today I had to delete the account of a new user. This person has apparently been turned down for membership of a group and decided to hit back at them.
The new user did so in an immature, ‘not smart’ and dangerous way – he tried to post names, addresses, location and details about a groups preps.
Well, it worked, to a point. The red flags went up, his post was deleted and his account along with it.
This site is here to HELP preppers. Anyone who sets out to cause mischief or violate the security of others will find themselves out on their ear!
Lives could be at stake people. THINK about it! Posting the addresses and preps of people is utterly STUPID! You might as well have them go walking through Central Park at 2am singing “I’m In The Money”!!!
So beware of giving potential members too much information! THIS site will delete their posts if you knock them back and they decide to spew out your details as revenge – other sites may not.
I totaly agree with meeting people close to you, see what there doing and what not. But everyone believes what they want to believe. But people need to meet on this site from all over. Comment on peoples posts talk to each other. Because in this day and age with all the travel we do for fun and work, we never know where we will be when anything happens. So knowing more people like us only helps all of us in the long run. Thats my thoughts!!

I have spent the better part of an hour dealing with a deranged individual who registered on this site. He accused me of threatening his life; of costing him money because he purchased some sort of virus protection in case I “went after him”; of “trying to get inside his head” etc. etc.
It ended with him emailing me trying to extort money to ensure he left the site. Ha! I have easier methods of making him leave.
He is now GONE!
What this does point out is – there are some real loons out there people! Be extremely cautious in your dealings with others – here or anywhere! Okay?
There has been an increase in interest from the media recently to interview people from this site. I strongly advise everyone NOT to talk to the media.
It is in your own interests to NOT disclose your personal details (real name, address, etc.) either on the forum or by email unless you have first gotten to know that person through PM or a face to face.
It’s not a good idea to advertise that you “might have” stockpiles of food or survival related equipment to the press. Their main interest is in making you look like an extremist or a fool. Their ratings and sales depend on them being able to sensationalize a story – facts come a poor second.
If they spam you with requests for interviews remember that there are harsh penalties for spamming. You might want to consider reporting their spam.

Just read a news article on y@hoo news page about the coming collapse of the world financial system and the troubled times that we face. The name of the article was The Coming Collapse: “We can buy time, but we can’t change the outcome” check the archives on y@hoo and you should be able to find it… I saw it tonight (9/16/11).
It’s news like this that justifies our planning, I can only hope that more people heed the warning and begin to prepare.

The majority of visitors here come from links on survivalblog.com, prepperbooks.com, Facebook Preppers, or through Google. A massive number just type in the address though and come directly to the site.
Conclusions? 1. The Prepper Groups page on Facebook is attracting a lot of Facebook preppers here. (yes, there are a lot of preppers using facebook) 2. That I need to get more sites linking here if we are to find a wider audience and give people the opportunity to hook up with other preppers. Members with websites – please link to us!

Howdy folks, I am 35 years old male and single looking to form a group. I do not know where I would like to form this group as of yet. However I have a few ideas on where I would like to go. This is what I am intrested in doing.
I have an Rv that I am going to be loading up with supplies and will be driving up to the mountains in either Colorado or surrounding states. I have enough supplies to get me going for the first year. I plan on developing the land as I go and actually living there as well. I also plan to find several fall back locations if the main position is ever compromised. I am looking for 1 or 2 other people that are committed and intrested in this idea. I am not asking for anything from you, except a commitment. As I stated I plan on staying in the Rv while I develope the area. I also have a rather freakishly large tent that I will be taking along with me for whenever I plan to go out of the area for several days to explore and find those fall back positions.
While living there I plan on hunting, fishing, building, gathering, and caching supplies. I have the skills to make any area defendable to outsiders that I do not wish to have access to my living area. I am not trying to overthrow the government or start a war. I am just getting ready for I believe is coming in our very near future.I do have some weapons and several thousand rounds of ammo as well. I have scouted out several areas in the Colorado Mountains in which I am intrested in that has moving water and several old abandoned mines.
I do not have any children, I believe that what I am wanting to accomplish will not be a life for small children under the age of 16. If this is something you are intrested in or would like to get more information from me then please post here leave your email and I will get back to you soon as I can. I do plan on taking more trips to the ares in which I am intrested in so might not respond right away. As I said before I am not asking for your money to buy into anything or be a security detail. I am looking for people that want to act now and not sit on their butts till it is too late to do anything.
