Hi again. After reading about many things on this website and through the links people have provided, I am compelled to rethink some of my own ideas. So I wanted to also revise my intro post.

I am a navy vet, 49 years old and kind of a Jill of all trades.  I have a background in electronics and an engineering degree. I have collected my BOB and am teaching myself to do more practical things like canning, wild food id, herbal remedies, basic farm animal care, and permaculture (challenging for a complete novice, so have a lot to learn). I am looking for land and potential neighbors in the region of VA, WV, PA, TN and KY.

The idea of a community is great, but I am seeing from this site that it would be very difficult to achieve (not to mention the time and risk involved). Maybe the solution is to have each family/person buy their own land close to each other (same general area) and agree to barter with,  and learn from each other. You would not even have to reveal your exact location, and could meet in town or other neutral place to trade materials and skills.  As trust builds everyone can (at their own pace) could get more involved with each other,  and there would be several BOLs to go to if your’s is compromised. It could start by someone who has their own land already and feels confident about their general area’s suitability could recommend an area for others to look for a place.  Btw, when I say land, I mean cheap land!  Any thoughts?

Hi All,

I am a 49-year-old female Navy Vet.  Have felt something coming for 20 years and have been researching since. In the last 6 months, I have had an increasing sense of urgency. I hope to find some like-minded, practical, folks to talk with. After the Boston “shutdown” my urgency went ballistic! My credit is not good, but my salary is okay…looking for land now. If you are of similar thought process (and are not looking for a very religious person), please contact me. A perfect situation, to me, would be a large tract of land…everyone would own their own part, with a common section…I am looking at smaller versions I could handle myself, but know that alone it could be much more difficult to thrive. After much research, I am looking in WV, NC, TN, KY, VA. Female Christian “Survivalist” (not a Bible thumper) , previously 10 years in the USAF, residing in Central PA. Well organized, believe nothing is impossible, and will defend everything the Lord gave me, including those who are close to me when it comes to survival!  Currently have appx. 6+ months food (late bloomer) for two, first-aid provisions and the knowledge of wound care and first-aid (instructor in advanced CPR and wound care in the USAF as a hobby), equipment inclusive of weapons, ammo, alternative power, and more. Also, familiar with bushcraft, logistics and tactical planning. I also have a best friend (female) who has been my roomie for 13 years, and my indoor kitty whom I adore…she is 13 yrs old. (kitty, not roomie)  I and my roomie are seeking a tight-knit group within a small community who are serious about preparing for the future and complimenting each other with skill sets needed to survive. Location open. Both my roomie and I have  hands on experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical/electrical equipment, construction, gardening, cooking, use of different types of weaponry, and are not afraid of learning new skills, getting dirty and working long hours to accomplish goals. The group we seek must have unquestionable integrity, positive mindset, ability to work hard, and accumulation of supplies, i.e., food, water, weaponry, etc.  Neither my roomie or myself believe in handouts nor accepting things without earning them.  As of now we are “homesteading” but seeking a trusting and viable group that are close-knit and in search of others who can compliment the same vision for current and future survival.  I may be contacted at :   Indigoice02 at (@) aol dot (.) com

We are a family of six. We have 3 children out of the house, and one 15 year old.

We are God fearing, bible believing, gun shooting conservatives, who are interested in finding some like minded people that have the same beliefs as us.  As a family that has just recently began prepping, we don’t have any particular set of skills, but are eager to learn and experience.

Hello peers,

I’m on the hunt for people in my area.  I’ve seen a few comments by people near by, but for the life of me, I can’t figure where to PM you guys(and girls).  I’m very new to this so I’m looking for people that can help get me further on my way be prepared for any situation that may arise. I’ve been working on getting my wife on board with the preps but she gets very paranoid when we start talking about possible scenarios  so she shrugs it off and tells me to do all I need to do and if the moment comes, she’ll do whatever I tell her to.  I guess my biggest prep struggle is getting her prepped.  Also I’m trying to figure out if there are any groups in my area. It would be great to know that if the time comes, there will be like minded people to  lessen the struggle.

Hi All,

I’m looking into putting a group together of like minded citizens from the great state of Pennsylvania, from Bucks, Berks, Chester, Montgomery and Lehigh Counties.

It has to start somewhere, each team member bringing skills and hardware to the table. A group will also lessen the burden of everyone buying everything.  Once we start a group we can decide/vote on how we procede. The important thing is to start building the team and gathering the equipment we’ll need in a logical order.

I have a couple places in mind to meet depending on where the majority of folks come from. One is in NW Montgomery County the other is in SW Montgomerty county. Both are pretty central to the counties mentioned above.

My family and I are interested in hooking up with a local prep group or perhaps starting one if one does not exist already for the Montco area of PA, specifically Lower/Upper Salford Townships. We have 6 adults and 2 potentially useful properties. While we are doing what we can for ourselves, but we are only a family of 6, and like they say, there is strength in numbers.
