  1. If you are near Bucks County, Pa. give me a heads up.

    • I am in Montgomery County… I have just started Prepping But I would love to find some more people of the same mindset..

      • I am in the area.Glad to hear from you.The fact that you started is great!

      • Be happy to talk with you. Let me know maybe we can compare notes

        • Sheeplenomore:The most important issue I first dealt with is that TSHTF is really going to happen. My view is others who have been and are prepping it was a life changing experience, one that is hard to explain until it happens to you.To me,it was a “gut punch”reality check and once I caught my breath, everything became crystal clear.Again, hard to explain .It takes time to adjust but my reaction was to start preparing. For me,I took a hard look at my skills and how they would adapt in the new environment.
My background is science and very adaptable with practical applications such as chemical decontamination, water treatment, identifying and dealing with biological hazards.I am studying how to build alternate energy sources.I also grow vegetable and herbs. All this will be useful when the dust settles.
The fact that you have visited this site is a positive step in in the right direction. My advice now is to keep moving, take a personal skills inventory, and believe in yourself. But most important: Remember :You are not alone!!!

          • I realize I am not alone. But talking with others about the situation gets me an “eyes glazed over look” or “are you one of those nut jobs” So I stopped trying to convince people. I am taking the approach if you did not vote don’t B#tch. If you won’t prepare then don’t complain when TSHTF.

My hard skills are hands on stuff. As a builder for 30 years I can build or fix dam near anything. I restore cars for a hobby. It’s a joke in my family, when I was a child I used to get in trouble for taking things apart to find out how they worked. Now people pay me to do it and make something new.

Weaknesses. Can’t grow vegetables..barely grow grass. Never learned to hunt. I can weld(barely). OPSEC I talk to much.
Hope to talk to you soon.

      • I currently work in Blue Bell. It would be good to share information and compare notes on preparation.

        • I am pretty close to Blue Bell? Do you know PJs?

          • I know PJ’s…. currently building about a mile from there. Used to go there when it was Tiffany’s (OK that was a LONG time ago.) Would like to get your take on things.

    • Yes,I am near Bucks County.

  2. I’m in your area too. I’m curious as to “suburban” survival does this mean stay put and not bug out or depends on the situation?

    • It really depends on the situation, your budget and level of preparedness. Starting out as I am unless it is catastrophic and I am unable to shelter in place. I am bugging in. We have an alternate site if that is not possible but it’s short term. I am trying to find a long term solution. My suggestion is start with BOB’s, then 3 days in place, 30, 60, 90. without help. During that buildup of supplies and resources find others of like mind. I do not believe you can survive alone for long term. Security and day to day actives will put you and your family at risk. Having a team to assist each other has a synergy to will allow everyone to benefit.

  3. ppbenn:First,I suggest you read the articles on JW`s site and determine what is best for your situation. The links in Pages section has a wealth of information.
Also,I recommend Neithercorp Press for more information.
The Glossary is excellent, check it out.

Misiu02:Yes,I know PJ`s.I recommend the suggestions I made to ppbenn.

Please Post a reply once you have done some reading and research.Just a suggestion.

  4. Sheeplenomore:
Great hands on skills;builder and car restoration and the fact that you have started puts you above 80%
of the population. You are right, survival is a team effort and you OPSEC is expected.I have run into the glazed look and nut job attitude also.People need to wake up on their sometimes.Starting with BOB and 3,then 30,60, and 90 days is very logical. It also prepares you mind.Finding others is big step and this is the place to do it.I most likely will shelter in place and bug out if the situation requires it.Check out the announcement from Russia and China to move away from from the dollar,China News Daily I think ran the article. If that news does not wake people up its on them. I feel this is heading in the right direction.Glad to hear from you.

  5. Have you had any luck locally? My boyfriend and I have been preparing for many months now and are looking for likeminded people too for a survivalist group. There is safety in #’s and we fear when the economy does collapse, all hell will break loose. If you ever saw the movie “The Road” you understand how desperate people get when they run out of food. Killing each other and stealing is only part of it. We too are in Central Jersey and hope to find people really close by. Please let me know if you are still interested.

    • Hi,
I saw your id on the survivalist boards a while back when i joined.
Did a group ever get formed in central nj?

I would be interested in meeting other preppers.

      Please let me know.
      Thanks
      Paddy

  6. Hi Paddy,

    Thanks for the post.
No group as of yet.I had to do some career “regrouping”.
I am still interested in starting a group but need to figure out a way to do so safely.->OPSEC<-
Anybody in central NJ or eastern Pa interested?
    All replies welcome.

    Best Regards,
