I am wondering if there is a group in northern mn that collectively works together on food preparation.  I’d like to find a group that does group canning, perhaps group purchasing.  Looking to share skills and resources.

I live 25 miles south of Duluth but will travel.

  1. If you are looking at increasing your own food supply look into the Mormon canning facilities. They normaly welcome everyone.

  2. Yeah- thanks. Was really just looking for a group that wanted to do things together. Make cider one day. Can stuff together, etc. Thanks though.

  3. Wouldn’t you be in Wisconsin, if you were 25 miles south of Duluth?

  4. Nope. Cloquet MN area.

    • We just moved here 4 months ago and we are living just across the river from Duluth in a small community called Oliver. My wife would love to learn about canning and we began doing light prepping about a 1 1/2 ago while living in Williston, Nd. after a snow storm cut power for a week. Into the 2nd day people literally rioted at the grocery stores breaking windows and clearing off the shelves. We couldnt believe how people acted! Bought some guns and ammo and got our permits right away after that.
We would love to get together with a group and do some stuff together. E-mail me at trtoy [at] yahoo [dot] com thanks. We only live 30 minutes away.

  5. I’m looking for people who have the prep skills like canning and would be willing to teach their skills to others,, perhaps at the farms or homesteads of like minded preppers. I’m also looking for Christian suppliers of freeze dried and dehydrated foods. I’m thinking it would be a good thing to hold some small “get ready” events (for lack of a better term),, and it would be a good way to meet people face to face,, do some networking and sharing and so on. I’m just outside of Minneapolis. Grand Rapids is a 3.5 hour drive, Duluth is around 3 hours away, Barnum is 2.5 hours I think,,, it would be nice to get an initial meeting set up somewhere central to the other Minnesotans here one day. Ideas? Comments?
