Hi all,
Glad to see there’s so many out there. Short bio, I’m in my late 20′s and have been prepper minded since about 13 or 14. I guess it came naturally from being home schooled and loving camping. Or maybe just from paying attention to the news for ANY length of time. Recently, I’ve been trying like hell to make enough money in various trades in order to get a decent base of resources going. While the somewhat thin paychecks are trickling in, I try to remind myself that there’s a huge amount of prep that can be done sans greenbacks. Mentally, physically, emotionally. All the gear in the world doesn’t mean squat if you haven’t got the knowledge and presence of mind to use it wisely. Sure I’m trying to find the right parcel of land and stock up on the hardware, but lately I’ve been contemplating the idea that people’s minds are where everything ultimately happens. Good or bad, it starts with a thought. I keep wondering if our world is in the predicaments it’s in lately because our ways of thinking have changed so much since the advances in travel and communication. Who knows. Anyway, if anyone has any tips for prepping resources of any kind in WNY they’d like to share, I’d be happy to hear em. Thanks….

Hi. I like your attitude! I am not in a ” group” so can’t offer you that but your options depend on whether you are in a job now or free to move. There are farms if you Internet search homesteading, organic farm, etc that will help younlearn skills. There are also people posting with various needs. One couple in the northwest posted they will teach homesteading skills in return for work on the farm. They are older. Just beware- never give out money site unseen. So open a thread from a state you are willing to relocate or go on the NY thread. See the sidebar on the left. Post there. And a great book is the “fourth turning”. We cycle through this every 80-100 yrs. The cycle we are in is the cycle where a country either falls apart from the turmoil or emerges radically changed but better. Thanks for commenting. Currently I’m not real free to move around so I’m getting done what I can, where I am. My wife and I just relocated to be closer to our families and work on better job prospects. WNY has some amazing farmland so we’ve got a 100 x 80 organic garden we’ve started from seed and worked almost entirely by hand. I’m proud to say it’s doing well for first time gardeners with almost no budget. Basically, we try to pretend the S has already HTF. Very few trips to the hardware store, and keep the lid on the gas can. Might as well work out the kinks now, ya know? We’re working hard to teach ourselves about canning, preserving, seed saving, permaculture, etc. . Hoping to purchase some land soon and go through the same learning curve with the livestock. I am interested in the book you mentioned and will definitely give it a look. If hindsight is 20/20 then why does history always repeat itself? Human nature and generation gaps I guess. hello also in the western areas of the exempire state we also are out here in the woods and like you working on very limited budget but we have experience with the old ways to a degree we are on the other hand a small group of 5-9 depending on who can god but have been working on breaking sod too as this is a new location if you want holler i come here now and then

These time are getting strange for all of us, Meaning all ages. Im in the 40 yr. range have a number of years under my belt in traning, Survival-Food-Building-Etc… With our work for most of us either slowing down, ending, putting on hold… Im in the consruction field, Had years in Security Force.
Every Day as the news comes on (CNN,FOX,Etc) I watch and WOW in watching on how everything is happening from what people have said over the years on roiting in the streets(as its now) Im just trying to maybe team up with others that have familys like I do, or even if its just them….!
On these matters I and or we try talking to friends or even loved ones,,, some think your as they put it: “watching to many movies” , reading to many books,,,,,, But All I have to say is read the blogs from long ago on some web sites, or even some youtube blogs from a few years, and listen to what they say, ” Everything” thats happening now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. As I read your site , with just you I know Im not alone in this WORLD MATER.!……… God Bless Buddy!
