Greetings this is a follow up from a much older post in July as we have continued to rapidly evolve as a family. We have 105 acres in Preston County WV.
We are located on a secluded, mountain top that has incredible views (which allow you to defend), two ponds a 60×120 metal barn that houses currently two horses(want to add some draft horses and equipment) and their hay and stuff……
We are looking for four to five like minded CHRISTIAN families to JOIN us here. Religion MUST be the same but all our other differences/knowledge/experience will be nothing but a benefit to the group.
The house that is mortgaged is on 16 of these acres. l The other 80 acres are clear from any bank note. The ponds and springs are on that 80.
We would like to sell off 4 to 5- 5 acre parcels, placed around on the property in prominent places (fort style). The main house which is where my family lives could be used as the educational, church, meetings, etc. There would be common grounds that would be allowed to use by the community with strict rules that would make sure ALL would be doing their fare share.
We all need to work together, we need to trust each other with our very own lives, and more challenging with our children’s lives. … The acreage would not be cheap as you are buying into a place that has already been worked on. The 5 acre parcel for @75 to 100k would buy you a place to start stocking, place an abode on to house your family that would be watched and protected while your not here, a spot in a supportive Christian community, common ground for livestock, also part of the money would go into building a solar greenhouse for the winter months and a large spring house using our springs.
We have lots of wildlife, the property will retain its value because even though we are off the beaten path, you can drive 8 minutes to a little town that has just about everything you would need and is a 30 minute drive from Morgantown home of WVU university.
So if God willing nothing happens it would/should retain a sellable value-which we would want the first offer to buy back to ensure safety with who is around us. The road is rough getting here but that is a good deterrant for others.
My husband has his masters in plant pathology and soils so he is very good at fixing the soils, plant id, growing food and medicine.(life saving) Although he is not a hunter (yet) he enjoys target practice and has great aim. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast (hiker, former rock climber, fisherman, etc) that can build and readily fix things.
I am an avid gardener, huge canner, lots of dehydration of foods/herbs and jerkey. Have been learning all the local vegetation and bringing stuff here that would be advantageous. Familiar with medicine and what to take for what, obviously have books that extend on this. Dabble in reflexology/accupuncture with the help of a resource book. I am a forever optimist that has a bachelors degree that allows me to “run a place”, home educates our four children 14, 13, 8 and 5.
My kids know how to work, bring in wood, garden, vet our animals, scoop manure, pull weeds, etc. We live in a beautiful house but we are no premadonnas here. We have 9 dogs that do a great job protecting and numerous cats to kill off the disease carrying rodents. We have chickens and roosters.
This spring we will allow them to have lots of babies to increase our numbers. We will also add turkeys and beehives……….I made sure there is enough flowers, etc to feed them. Thinking about goats. Our goal would be to function more Amish then having oodles of other types of power, although for some sources, alternative power would be great. The main house has 8,000 sq ft. (hence the reason as well to protect our value should all stay well and “return” to normal)
Someone asked me if they could rent a room in our house to start putting their things here with the idea to bug out to me when the tshtf. This is fine but we still need to get some used trailers/alternative housing scattered on the property. The house also has a “safe place-(use your imagination for why we may need that)”.
I know the amount may seem cost prohibitive to some but I feel this would be the way to go. To have someone living full time at the area and continue prepping as you continue with your life having stuff sent here, then we could have monthly meetings to assess the place and what needs to be done/or purchased is a good idea. We have stored our food, meds, medical supply, cleaning materials, hand toals both inside and out, soap, pet foods, stocked ponds, and are adding ammo as finances allow. We also have years of clothing and gear for ourselves and kids stored up……………….gloves, hats, jackets, boots, etc..
I am taking this very seriously as should you. I want to make it as comfortable as a transition as possible but it takes team work………..there is no “I” in team. Should you want to be part of this team/family please email me at surelythiswilldo at hotmail.com. Best of Luck to you all and God bless!

Hello West Virginia, My wife and I are also Christians. It sounds like you have a really nice set up way over there. I liked what your post said. I think you already know that the first secret of surviving what is coming is location, location and location. We have a Christian group over here in Washington State. Several have moved from Virginia to our location because they have witnessed and seen the same dreams and visions. You are not in a good or safe area of the country. If you knew what is coming in the near future to your area, you would probably sell your land and get out of there pretty quickly. If you really want to know more let me know.
