My wife and I have just purchased a home and 2.5 acres in southwertern Missouri, Diamond to be exact. We are apparently outside of town being 3 miles from the George Washington Carver Memorial, towards highway 71 side.
We are just getting into prepping, actually more her idea. I don’t really know that much about it other than what we have been reading. We are bringing my grandmother 84, mother and father in law with us. He is a retired vet, now disabled. This affords me the ability as my wife put it, to finally put my gunsmithing degree to work for us.
Being from New Jersey at the moment has hampered us because our gun laws are worse than most liberal countries. I am having one stupid problem at the moment. Like everything else in the world these days, the internet is our best source of information. Well, we’ll be one Cortez lane, and I cannot for the life of me find any high speed internet offering. Dial up is useless, satellite I have heard and researched is both expensive, slow and spotty at best. There must be someway for us to get highspeed internet in the area we will be in.

We are up by Springfield and have satellite internet thru Wild Blue, not to bad price and faster than dial-up. Hope this helps. We have been prepping for about a year, maybe we can talk a bit.

I understand your agravation with your internet, but what I want to tell you, as a extended friend/prepper, there is a lot of people that is just watching for nce folks to put their name and address up for all to see. Almost like a come & get sign, as you will. What else do you have, nice guns, are you home during the day? Your coming & goings? Not everybody are as nieve as your self. They are smart & watching for any clue to that will help them clean you out. Need to practice SYOPS. Take care & be safe.
Understand completely. We have taken certain precautions. My job is gunsmithing so I am home all the time. Trish, is a nurses aide and her job is to care for the people we have. We got a security system installed in the new house. We have a few other deterences but like you said don’t advertise for the unseedy. We are looking foreward to our new home and, farming and poultry raising . Will get into the solar and wind power once we are established. I am looking for a group to join that is need of someone who has years of experience in safety, protection, and setting up a security system in case things do go down economically and people will have to protect what they have stored up. I am retired from the military and I have been in various countries in many different types of terrains and jungles. I received my jungle expert medal in Panama. I have many items that would be an asset for any group. I was a survival instructor and can train people how to build shelters from all types of material, how to build traps to catch food, and how to be proficient at firearms and combat tactics.
