We’re a married couple with a grown son looking to make our move to Tennessee around the end of the year (give or take). Our plan is to establish (or purchase) a homestead and we’re looking for just a few like minded folks to join us=share resources, skills, etc. We’d like to become as self sufficient as possible with a large vegetable garden, fruit orchard, and raise some small livestock (goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, etc).

This is for the long haul and not just a BOL.

I said “like minded” didn’t I? What does that mean? Maybe it’s easier to tell you what it doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with us on every point regarding religion, politics, sports (no NY Jets fans please : ), or whether Tennessee Whisky is better than Bourbon. (Don’t answer that last one…)

So a little about us.

Point number one: We’re not stupid. That should count for a lot these days.

Point number two: We’re generally very easy to get along with. We’ll probably be more tolerant of your faults than you will of ours if we had any…(just kidding)

Point number three: We have no debt. We will incur no debt to make this move.  (see point number one)

Point number four: Our reasons for making a severe lifestyle change at this stage of our lives (ages 50 and 42) have more to do with common sense than our religious (Preterist) or political (Constitutionalist) views.

And Point number five: We are fully committed. No plan B.

Drop us a line. Use our user name at mail dot com.

Cheers,

Greg and Shawna

Hello I was looking for like minded people in our area. We raise small livestock, have a garden and try to be prepared not by stocking up, but by having renewable food and water sources. We also have many other useful skills such as carpentry and knowledge of medicinal plants and have friends nearby that do some blacksmithing and and other interesting things, but we would like to meet others that can maybe bring new things and skills to the table also. We aren’t prepping for anything in particular, but if it happens we will be prepared I hope!

Looking for a retreat for my family. Me, my wife and our son. All have weapons and can shoot. We have @ 3000 rds of ammo. We have @6 months of dried/canned food.

Bug out bags and gear. I am ex-soldier.

Not religious nut, but I do believe in God. Prefer someone with some faith. Looking for a place to bug out to in case of future crisis/event.

I am 42, wife mid 30′s, son under 10.

We like to keep under the radar, but want a common-thinking family/group to link up with.

Shortly joined an awesome group of ex-Marines and active overseas guards who were like-minded with property and retreat. They had in-fighting and group collapsed.

Back to square one for us. Please reach out to silkman_john (at symbol) yahoo (dot) com.

Sooner rather than later. I fear our time is short.

So we’re pretty new to the whole prepping idea — we’re basically preparing for anything really. I personally don’t think 2012 is the year to end all years (based on religious beliefs) but I am not naive to think that something isn’t right around the corner. We live right smack dab in the middle of downtown Nashville…couldn’t have picked a worse place pre-SHTF but we do have lots of family that live on land in various states. Push come to shove, we’d head in their direction. We’ve started stockpiling food (http://www.tiffanycartier.shelfreliance.com/TiffanyCartier), guns and ammo, but I’m hesitant to really worry about anything else in great lengths except for your basic survival gear. Call me crazy but I feel like there are so many ‘end of day’ visuals in movies these days that they make you kinda stop and wonder.

We are both avid hunters/fishermen/gardeners — but will that even matter? What’s the point of stocking seeds and all that if there’s the very real possibility that we won’t be able to grow things in the soil — and worse yet, it takes time for a garden to spring up..doesn’t just happen over night. And then you have to think, will my beautiful lush garden give away my location and ultimately my security? I think of movies like “Eli” — “I Am Legend” — the “Resident Evils” and while the idea of a zombie apocalypse seems silly to me, there’s the real chance that a pathageon/nuclear/climate change/etc could happen that would kill humans/animals alike, thus ruining our hopes for a food source.

I guess these are just things that I think about and would love to hear everyone else’s opinions on such since most people I talk to seem to ‘prepping for anything’ but yet relying heavily on seeds and hunting.
