Hello, I have recently begun prepping just in case. I personally believe in addition to being prepared yourself it’s important to be apart of a community. I’ve been contemplating purchasing some farm and hunting land in Arizona as it’s cheap (I’ve seen as low as $500/acre). As I’ve been looking it occurred to me it might be worth seeing if there are others looking to do the same, or have done it already. I’d love advice on good locations and I’d love to get some land near other like minded people so we can have a community if things get bad. I’m also open to building out a smallish community (3-4 homes) on a large plot of land and set it up for off-the grid living. Would be a place to prep and practice farming and the like as well as nice retreat from the city (well as long as we have them anyways 🙂 ).

A few friends and I have started looking for a change, mainly because we have gotten older and we don’t want to be a bunch of old fart preppers.
My other half and I have been looking for aplace that is adding people (couples) in and we wanted to stay in Minnesota but things have gotten to exspensive for us here to buy and with being divorced I can’t get any credit mostly because I always paid cash.
We have found wooded land in eastern Minnesota and I’m looking for another couple or two to split with payments and setup their own off-grid small house and a few animals like goats and chickens, a small garden and maybe a commun kitchen.
This my thoughts I am hoping to work with true to their own life people on this.

Folks I am an aging writer and retired law enforcement professional.
I have twenty+ acres in an ideal location for a family or group to establish themselves and await the lean times. I don’t declare the imminent apocalypse, it is certainly one of the possible outcomes of a very uncertain future.
I presume most of you have reached the conclusion that total isolation holds too much danger of total destruction and that an enclave of many without access to other wise unavailable services is also unworkable. I thought those through and decided on a place with long distances to even small communities with the exception of a very small population of people with interests that will mesh those of other locals when it falls apart. ( I dislike the acronym SHTF.)
I located my home after retirement in a community of less than 400 people with the closest community of several thousand 48 miles away by a paved road and in the other direction that larger small city of several thousand is 58 miles from my corner post.
Neither town is likely to generate nomads in my direction since there are larger cities closer to either of those distant towns.
Any other roads are through National Forest service roads and terminate in easily controlled intersections. The whole little town is thus, through isolation, a bunker.
The property is presently fit for living as it contains a 2006 manufactured double wide home 27 X 44 with two baths-one master, and three bedrooms, septic (1500 gallon),and outbuildings of nominal size (one grouted and filled with reinforced rebar and high strength concrete.
I have the plans for other agricultural buildings (barn etc.) that are permitted for building by the county as long as they are agricultural in nature.
There is a plot plan for sunken green houses as the cold is unpredictable and the sunken green house allows early starts. The plans also call for a six foot depth with an elevated back wall of ten feet, covered by thicker than normal Mylar over Styrofoam insulation fronted by large diameter plastic pipe that will terminate underground to collect hot water the green houses will be covered by plastic sheeting that will need to be replaced every three to five years.
The green houses are to be located along the 1900 feet of southern exposure.
Small animal housing to be located North of the greenhouses and all southern facing roof tops to be optimized for placement of solar panels. I sit on a ridge just above a river bottom and a windmill can easily be raised above the surrounding tree line in all directions. ( The small low range gen sets like those used by boaters to keep batteries are not worth the money spent to acquire them.).
I am told by one of the workers of the contractor to dig the foundations for first, the foundation for a primary dorm and kitchen with hidden access. ( guess where?) More later contact me at Crazyhorse, PO BOX 132 BLY OR 97622
There are several similar parcels I can option if wanted.

Before I discuss what we will be doing I wanted to talk a little about us. We are a group of preppers who are centered around learning skills for self reliance. We meet at least once a month around the Indianapolis area on the first Saturday of the month. While this is the first time I am posted here, we have been meeting once a month for over a year (closing in on two now). We have an active base crowd close to ten people.

This event will be on 2/4/2017

There will be hands on practice preserving food at this event, so it will be helpful if everyone brings a chop block and a vegetable knife.

  • We will process raw vegetables with a food dryer, dehydrating.
  • Pickle vegetables in a hot water bath, bath canning.
  • Pressure canning hamburger, potatoes and green beans.
  • Also we can vacuum seal some dry products in buckets
  • Also bring any pressure canners or cookware you want to ask questions about. We won’t be using your cookware just discussing the merits and dangers of the different types.

We all garden and preserve food to support our desire to eat well. So if you have something you make and want to share please do.

As usual this event will start at 1 PM and I will be there until 4 PM, but you can come and go as you please. The event takes place at a private residence, so staying later will be up to the owners. The last hour will be for general preparedness questions.

If you are interested in going please RSVP with me at the following email address.

I am a teacher looking for a prepper group outside of Houston – outside of Dallas, San Antonio, or Austin (and I’m open to other areas if the right fit). I’ve been seriously considering living permanently in an RV to save money and have a bug-out vehicle. I was raised on a farm and looking to live that simple, joyful life again. I’ve been studying the Bible, watched many documentaries, and read a lot of independent news – all pointing to end times very near, such as an economic collapse and/or major catastrophes. Recently, one quote from Jesus that got my attention is, “Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed.” (Rev 16:15)

I interpret that to mean that those of us who are watching for Jesus to come back will see the signs and prepare, thus preventing the unnecessary suffering that comes with not preparing. I think of the danger of being in the cities, FEMA, coastline disasters, flooding in low elevation, being without shelter, clothing, and food if forced to evacuate unexpectedly. So many people tell me not to listen the doom and gloom, to be more optimistic, that I’m creating insecurity this way, that I should buy real estate and make money instead of buying an RV and being a nomad, that we’re going to die anyway, blah blah… I am looking for like-minded people with strong minds, level-headed people, Christians, who will be an extended family to me and my daughter. Please let me know if you’re interested in discussing further, or if you have any advice or thoughts on what I’ve shared, please reply. Thank you.

Warm regards,
Kim

My wife and I have a room in our home that we need to rent. We are only interested in renting to another prepper. If you live alone, you’ll be in a fix if SHTF. As well, we understand the idea of safety in numbers and would prefer to have an additional responsible adult here at our home. We live in Lewisville on the west side of I-35 between 121 Business and Fox Avenue. Rent is $475 per month. If you are interested, let’s meet somewhere and discuss your situation to see if we might be a proper fit. Rule number one, we’re not renting to anyone who’s going to drain rather than compliment our resources. We require you to have your own. We’ll not give away half of our provisions because we invited the wrong person in. We do not smoke cigarettes. Additionally, as a matter of TX law and our own standards, we are not permitted to have sex offenders living at our residence. Please text us nine7two-83six-742one if you’re interested in meeting.

New member of the prepping community looking to join with other survival-oriented people in the southwest area. Currently in NM, able to travel. Own my own weapons and a small gear stockpile. Unable to stockpile any great quantity of food and water due to living space restrictions and lack of funding. Humans are social animals who, despite being *able* to survive alone, function best in groups. I’m just looking for somewhere I can help out.

Skills: decent marksman, moderate first aid experience, several years’ backpacking experience. Former boy scout and ROTC cadet. Employed as a chemistry assistant in an electroplating shop for 4 years. Some minor communications and electrical experience. Helped build 2 houses in the Las Cruces area, know my way around manual labor construction a fair bit.

If anyone in the southwest area has an existing group that could use an extra set of working hands, with a halfway decent brain attached, please let me know.

The present facts of our current and emerging reality coupled with your gut-level intuition about what is getting ready to happen can no longer be ignored…we are heading for a major life-altering event. You’ve come to the unsettling conclusion that there are too many danger signals to deny.  If you follow the prophecies of Nostradamus, 2017 looks to be the tumultuous year.

So, you have stored some food, ammo, and weapons; you read some books on gardening and basic medical care.  But are you really ready?  You can wait until you are facing fundamental societal change to determine how ready you are, but that is a decision that carries serious consequences if you aren’t.

Safety and Skills in Numbers

The wise choice would be to join a group that is serious about preparing for an event.   We have been preparing for several years to shelter our membership and sustain our existence for many years afterward at a secluded and secured location with full-spectrum provisions for long-term sustainability.

For six years, we have prepared a safe-haven community of multiple family units located in central North Carolina for our membership from Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. We don’t live there–we just prepare it for the day we know we will have to occupy it. We are not sure what will take place or when but just like you, we can discern the signs of that inevitability.  After all, it is not a matter of if; it is a matter of when.

Our 50-acre retreat has all of the needs necessary for long-term survival under any circumstances including:

  • A deep well with pristine water (with a backup manual pump)
  • A pond and a fast-flowing creek
  • Abundant deer, wild turkey and wild rabbit
  • Domesticated livestock including rabbits, chickens, Guinea Hens, goats, and ducks
  • Sustainable gardens (raised beds and tilled ground) to replenish our stores for food consumption and medical needs
  • A fruit orchard and numerous fruit bushes
  • Abundant natural growing tubers, blackberries and other non-cultivated food sources as a back-up
  • Ongoing construction of a greenhouse to cultivate vegetables, sprouts, and seedlings for longer growing seasons
  • Solar energy systems under development with a dedicated and skilled team working on Energy to determine exact power needs and equipment.

Who We Are

Because our objective is to be self-sufficient when we have to occupy our retreat, we feel it is critical to store and prepare together rather than risk an isolated effort that cannot be defended when social order collapses. We all value the safety of our families above all else, which enables us to collaborate in preparing for that event.

I am a Vietnam Vet who served with an infantry unit as part of five years in the US Army, so I know what it takes to protect your habitation.  I have also served as CEO of three successful companies in my career, so I know how to successfully organize people and projects.

We have organized a retreat community made up of hard-working and dedicated folks committed to preparing for an event.  Many of our membership are former military, so we bring that self-discipline and spirit of camaraderie.

The retreat includes a small medical clinic as our membership includes medical personnel. We are prepared for many medical emergencies or situations.

In addition to the medical staff, our members also include several engineers, an attorney, an auto mechanic, retired Army infantryman, a competition shooter/fisherman, a seamstress, several correctional officers, and a certified aviation mechanic and assembler. We have formed teams to address security/weaponry, medical care, food production, food preparation, communications, construction, and energy.  Each team has a team leader and organizational charter.

Our Leadership Team (all former military) sets executive policies and provides day-to-day operational decisions.  Issues that involve long-term implications or significant allocation of resources or major policy changes are brought before the group for discussion and decisions.  We do not run our organization like a commune or homeowners association—but more like a corporate or quasi-military organization.

If you are looking for a pure democracy with extended deliberations and a vote on everything while progress is measured at a snail’s pace… pass us by.  If you are looking for a group to join that you can maintain a passive enrollment, store food with your “name on the list” for “when the balloon goes up”; we are not the group for you.

We are looking for team-oriented individuals that bring useful skills and positive “can do” attitudes to the table with committed families to actively participate in and further develop what we have achieved so far in the following areas:

  • Operational facilities and extensive sustainable survival provisions maintained in a high state of readiness with the services of a full-time caretaker and group projects conducted at regular meetings.
  • Personal and group training in sustainable living skills (gardening, livestock, construction, food preservation/preparation), operational security / defensive skills, and medical/TCCC (tactical combat casualty care) training.
  • Solid relationships between members based on trust, competence, and contributions to the group over an extended period. Everyone in the community contributes from their resources and skill sets to make us a stronger group.

Our motto is:  Plan, Prepare, and Practice.

We hold monthly gatherings which are also Skills Development and Retreat Building Workshops one weekend every month. During a typical weekend, we conduct training sessions, defense simulations, and work projects.

Firearms and security training is part of every session, and members are encouraged to seek out individual firearms training as well.  Most of our membership have also attended off-site weapons training, occasionally together. We have a 25-meter and 125-meter pistol and rifle range and provide training in basic handguns, rifle and shotgun use at every monthly Gathering with trained instructors.

Our onsite workshops include working on developing the retreat as well as developing our skill sets. Many of our members have attended homesteading skill and survival training programs at conferences to enhance skills.

In addition to a 360+ page operations manual to support our members, we have also developed a separate 200-page Retreat Activation & Security Protocol which has been reviewed and critiqued by several retired military officers and several security systems experts. We take our security seriously, so security is 24/7/365.  After all, if you can’t defend it, it’s not yours.

Our Retreat

We have accommodation cabins, RV spaces, a medical clinic, a well-house with backup manual well pump, a 4-room bath house with showers and laundry facilities, community center, provisions storage area, commercial kitchen and communications center/operations room. We have a large amount of stored water, solar energy, propane supply, and wood as well. We have prepared for EMP with multiple precautions to include multi-layer nesting of all electronics within Faraday Cages.

To support our communications center, several of our members have Ham licenses.  Our communications center will monitor radio traffic and stay connected with a network of other ham operators when the event occurs. We also have an internal switchboard system with a hard-wired phone system.  As a precaution, we have duplicate equipment for everything—back-ups to back-ups.

We all share in the development of our community through working at every monthly Gathering. While we don’t occupy the retreat until an event has occurred, our members can use the property for R&R to enjoy hunting, fishing, relaxing as a large area surrounds us with plentiful game.

Our members rent space (RV space or cabins) at $250/month to pay for on-site caretaker/security personnel and utilities to man 24-7.  We do have a one-time membership fee that is non-refundable.

We have cabins available as well as several RV space (RV has a full range of sewer, water, and power hook-ups). We are looking for capable and willing folks to help with physical requirements of post-event such as energy (solar, etc.) patrolling, gardening, wood gathering, hunting, etc.

There May Be A Place for You in Our Community

We are also seeking additional skills to add to our mix.  No anti-government types, militants or racists.  We are Constitutionalists and despite a major concern in how our government is run—we are pro-America. Prospective members go through a vetting process that includes email interviews, telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews, as well as background and criminal checks.

Although we are secular, we are principally Christian but will consider all religions (or non-religious types).  We are not “Bible-thumpers, ” but we do have deep moral, spiritual and ethical beliefs. We often have Sunday Bible service, but attendance is optional. We review our mission, vision, and core values at every meeting and have a 12-page set of rules to govern behavior.

If you have been prepping for a while and want to affiliate with a well-organized, like-minded group in North Carolina, then ask for an application. We start with a phone call first to assess where you are in your prepping efforts.

The retreat is ready to be occupied by members at a moment’s notice. We keep the candle burning 24/7.  You could be one of those able to flee the perils of the decline of social order for the security of a small well-trained, organized, and prepared community.

How important is your family’s welfare and security? What are their lives worth to you?  Think about the advantages of a well-organized group when it comes to the safety and welfare of your loved ones when everything turns upside down. It is like owning an insurance policy you never want to be collected or that spare tire you keep in the trunk of your vehicle you never want to use.

If you want to see a video of our group, then go to YouTube and search for “Tranquility Ridge r2”.  You should get a sense of our group from the video. We are serious folks and have a mission that is reviewed every meeting.

If your family’s security and welfare is critical to you and you live in North Carolina, Virginia or South Carolina, contact us today. Contact me via email: [email protected] to request an application and list of further requirements.  We will arrange a phone call for more details and a discussion of your skill sets and readiness.

We are committed to preparing—are you?
