Hello, I’m looking for a non-religious prepper group in the Chicagoland area.  I have been teaching myself how to garden, compost, freeze foods, and the like for a few years now.  I have a variety of survival skills and know how to make due with less.  Canning, rainwater collection, and drip irrigation are on my list of skills to develop next.  Thanks.

  1. Contact Live Free, a national survival/prepper organization that’s been in business for over 50 years. They can put you in touch with a group(s) in your area. You can contact them at http://www.americansurvivor.org I’m the N. Chicago area coordinator and you may be referred back to me, my name is Keith. But there is also a SW Chicago coordinator as well.

  2. I’m explicitly looking for atheist / agnostic / non-religious prepper groups. In my area would be great, but not a requirement. I’ve looked through the website you shared and saw nothing describing what I’m looking for. It has been my experience that a lack of religion in the title does not necessarily mean a lack of religiosity in the group.

    • I can assure you that religion is NOT part of the Live Free program. It isn’t mentioned because they leave it up to the individual or group to make up their own mind. But I think you going to find it almost impossible to find any existing prepper group around here that doesn’t at least adhere to Christian principles without making being a Christian a requirement. My own group being a prime example. Your probably better off starting your own group by advertising here for like-minded individuals rather then wasting time trying to find such a group to meet your requirements. Good luck with such a search.

      • “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Or to put it in today’s speech: A closed mouth don’t get fed. I do not see it as a waste of time to seek out those interested in prepping without waving a religious banner. However, it is a waste of time to for the secular-minded to invest in a community of preppers only to find out later on that religion is a requirement. I respect that you are up front with your group’s spiritual identity. It is interesting to note that there are pagans forming prepper communities so it stands to reason there are atheists out there doing likewise. I do not believe in luck so no worries in it influencing my search.

    • hi flowmagus, I’m curious to know if you were able to find your non-Christian group.

      • Hello Francpez,

I have not found any such group locally. Though to be fair, I haven’t been combing social media to hunt them down in my area simply because I have been avoiding censorship-laden platforms that act as publishers these past several years. Anyway, people around me have largely been caught up in perpetual fear and have blindly adopted the “new normal” so I’ve just been minding my own business, expanding upon my skillsets, and keeping my ears to the wind.

        • Hi Flowmagus, thank you for replying. I’m not surprise that you were not able to find a non religious prepper group. Most people out there are ridiculously religious in one way or another.
In a survival situation who has time for fairytales. Definitely, not the sane survivalist.
I wrote to Americasurvivor.org, but they never replied to my message. I’m looking to join a prepper group in the Chicago area that has not bought into the covid deception, but no luck as of yet. I definitely would like to learn some basic survival skills before the SHTF if you know what I mean. It’s hard to find good people nowadays. For some reason, people continue to believe in the Covid narrative and what the mainstream media tells them. My name is Francisco (Frank) by the way. I live in Cicero, IL. I drive a truck for a living. How about you? Talk soon.
