Hello, I have recently begun prepping just in case. I personally believe in addition to being prepared yourself it’s important to be apart of a community. I’ve been contemplating purchasing some farm and hunting land in Arizona as it’s cheap (I’ve seen as low as $500/acre). As I’ve been looking it occurred to me it might be worth seeing if there are others looking to do the same, or have done it already. I’d love advice on good locations and I’d love to get some land near other like minded people so we can have a community if things get bad. I’m also open to building out a smallish community (3-4 homes) on a large plot of land and set it up for off-the grid living. Would be a place to prep and practice farming and the like as well as nice retreat from the city (well as long as we have them anyways 🙂 ).

  1. Hello,

You may want to rethink Arizona. Research the Yellowstone Caldera and Long Valley Caldera. For more information on how best to prepare, send an email.

    Best regards,

  2. I’m in Tucson, AZ. Land is cheap but you get what you pay for. Unless you are in N AZ there is a lot of work to do before you can use it. This is Sonoran desert, so you need water (cistern & well), electricity (solar & battery) and major soil amendment before it is fertile. Security is an issue with the illegals wandering the desert. There are some nice places, but they are waaaay off the beaten path & you’ll have to figure out shelter too (trailers are common because tornados are not). I’ve been looking for a second place for about 6 months now & am learning a lot. There’s a lot to be learned by driving and looking at the land and talking to people in the towns. Locals can be a wealth of info – mine reps have been in town, casino opening, well service depth & cost, etc. i’d be happy to chat with you & let you know what I know.

    • Zoe,

If you are not already connected, consider in Tucson there are two groups of varying membership that more or less meet monthly.
      Southern Arizona Preppers.
      https://www.meetup.com/Southern-Arizona-Preppers/
Meetings tend to be at the Mission Library and/or the Nanini Library, although we have now had three sessions at the Coco’s on Oracle just north of Ina.
      And
      Oath Keepers for southern Arizona.
Most sessions are at the U-Like Buffet, on Oracle just north of River Rd, typicall on the 3rd Saturday of the month, officially starting at 1300, but if you want to eat arrive earlier, aiming for the food to be done before the meeting. The local Oath Keepers is in the process of changing their online presence, so right now no direct link is available. If you want to be put on the email notice list let me know.

  3. I am looking for fellow Arizonans or any people to prep with my email is Hauboldalex841 [at] gmail [dot] com
