  1. I guess Montana would be too far to drive? Much better to find someplace close to home but a gas tank of gas away from the masses of soon to be zombies. Mountains are nice also.

  2. I’m in the Citrus Co. area. I have a number of years of survival training and other skills. Would definitely like to connect. Let’s get in touch and find some others.

  3. I am in Citrus Springs , Florida 3 years now. Joined today. Want to find like minded close. Somewhat prepped but am alone with wife and not many like minded in neighborhood. Reaching out like this is new and I know trust must be earned.

    • Hi Doug, we were in Beverly Hills right down the road for a while.

Unfortunately after much research and consideration we determined that most areas in central to southern Florida are not practically tenable for survival planning due to temperature, massive increased compact population and poor transportation structure.

We ended up moving to NW Florida north of Panama City, where the weather is much more seasonal and favorable to food storage, especially in the hills.

There is no avoiding the population issue in your area, but for the temperature there are some who recommend burying storable food in pvc conduits in case of a long-term power outage, but in the hotter months that may not even be sustainable.

If moving is not an option, I would recommend planning for a sustained power outage with propane and gas generators and cooking appliances, burying storable foods in pvc conduit at least 36″ below grade and trying to set your home up to naturally vent the heat as well as investing in a whole-house fan that you can run off the generator for a short time in the evening to cool the house down.

Also before you invest in your home make sure that you are well away from any flood zones or run-off basins.

As you said there are not many “like-minded” in that area and every time we go back it seems as if the population has doubled, so you may want to avoid advertising your prepping so that if there is a disaster you won’t be targeted by neighbors or government.

      Hope that helps.

  4. I hear you, Panama City Beach FL area here.
