A Caucasian conservative Christian couple in the mid forties seeking to network with other like minded couples or groups who have an interest in prepping, homesteading and other self sufficient lifestyles. We are both former military, educated, secure and raised in very rural areas of Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. We are not interested in militia groups, radicals or anti government types. We are open to networking, joining a like minded group or even creating a group with others. Contact us if you are on the same page. God Bless!

  1. Please let me know if you find any information for our area. I too live in se missouri and interested in any info.

    • Will do keebo. As you see, you are the first to respond to our posting. The area just may be a dead zone. Hopefully not!

      • Just found this group. We live in the foothills of the Ozarks in SE Mo. In a small cabin in the woods. More homesteading and self reliant focused and interested in finding like minded people. If someone gets a group started in the area I’d be interested in checking it out.

        • Hello hazelphazel. We recently found this site as well and decided to post. We live in Southwest IL outside of St.Louis. Not sure what part of SEMO you are but we visit the Farmington and Sikeston areas about 8-12 times per year to visit family and do our little getaways with our travel trailer, kayaks and to fish. One day we hope to have the cabin in the woods also. As our initial posting said, we are looking to network with others within our area and see where it goes. We are new to this but trying. If interested, we can send a message your to your personal email addy and go from there. Let us know…

        • robertkj63, we live in IL as well and may not be to far from you. If still interested in networking please feel free to contact us directly at ruralones( at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks.

    • Hi. I am from Marion, looking for the same

  2. Hazelphazel and Rural Couple,

My wife and I are new to SW Illinois, just outside St Louis, and to prepping. We are both 53 and seeking a group in our area to investigate as well. If you guys come up with anything keep me posted. I am ex-Army but also not much into the paramilitary as opposed to the self defense and self sufficiency qualities of prepiping. God bless.

    • roberkj63, thank you for responding. So far we have not met any other couples or groups in the Southwest IL area that have an interest in prepping or homesteading in any way. It is hard enough just to find others to go on a weekend camping and fishing trip with. If interested, we can exchange emails and go from there… Not sure if this site lets you private message through here but that could be an option also for beginners?

      • Rural Couple,

We are in Granite City. I am working on a nearby Industrial Capital Project until December 2018. We have church function this weekend (Mar 3 – 5) and we are visiting the Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield the following weekend but we would love to meet up and talk after that if you guys ever have the time. Again we are truly a novices at prepping and have nothing but childhood memories of Great Grandparents in terms of homesteading background but are eager to garner more information on those topics and connect with like minded folks. Let me know if your schedule permits sometime in the future. I will also email you when I get a chance and you can reach me at [email protected], as well, which is my personal email. Thanks.

    • My wife and I are retired and live in Cape G. Area. Interested in networking with others. Family farm of 100 acres, ponds, deep well, etc. Been prepping for about two years. Ed

      • Prepper1949 Ed,

Thank you so much. We would love to visit with you one day and discuss this topic of interest. We have been looking for a homestead to call our own but certainly not 100 acres, that’s impressive. We have been looking at 11 to 25 acres with a water source for sure and hardwoods if possible as well as pasture area. I would love to pick your brain if nothing else. My wife and I are Christians as well but probably not considered “old school” but certainly old. We are suburbanites with ties through previous generations to farming, etc but not direct experience. This of course is a fact we want to overcome before we get too old to bend over and touch our toes. I have been reading up on all aspects of prepping but have no real practical experience except some hunting background and hours at the gun range, most most of which is years removed now. As I noted with Rural Couple we are tied up over the next two weekends with church function and a visit to the Lincoln Presidential Library but after which if you ever have the time to fellowship we’d love to meet up someplace and talk about your lifestyle on your property and the Prepping information each of us can share. We are also trying to meet up with Rural Couple (The Kellys) when we can. Maybe we can get a support group started if nothing else.Looks like a few others in our general location are interested in meeting like minded folks so I may try and connect with them as well. Thanks for touching base and if you can lets meet up sometime.

        Rob

Sorry it has took so long to be back posting on this site. Been busy with a list of things that needed done outside of working. Looks like spring is around the corner and about to get rolling on our seedlings for May transplant. Just did some direct seeding of lettuce, carrots, radishes, onions and bush beans in a cold frame raised bed. Hope to hear directly from others interested in homesteading and prepping and those that have responded to this posting

    God Bless
