Would like to meet other like minded people to network with.

Hi There! Im in Chicago Loop and yep, if SHTF ever goes down, Im gonna have a bit of a hard time to say the leaselol.  But that’s why we’re here, to be proactive. Looking to talk and connect with like minded people. If for nothing else, I am a good person to gather intel from what’s happening in the heart of the city. I’ve been preparing for 7 years and have some skills and knowledge.  Keep the racist & radical to yourself please.  I am looking for no agenda except surviving and thriving. Be well!

newly forming group in northern Illinois

There is a new group forming. Currently have 4 families involved. Meeting in Algonquin, usually at the library. We are open to other like minded people. Next meeting will be in mid July. Agenda for that meeting is to bring a book from your “prepper” library, preferably an area that you have knowledge of or experience in. For instance, I will be bringing book on gardening, others on herbal remedies etc. Meeting date/time July 13th, 7:00 pm. I will post location soon.

Reaching out again. I am looking to make contact with other preppers. I would love to find a group to join for mutual support and learning skills. But I would welcome contact with beginners too. Maybe there is a need to start a new group in northern Illinois.
I am not an expert but do have some useful skills and some supplies. I live in the Algonquin area.

I am in the Geneva/St. Charles area in Illinois. I am a total newbie to prepping. I feel like I have a decent background that gives me some practical base knowledge as I grew up backpacking in the Sierras, I was in the Military in the Northwest for 8 years and have gone through some basic survival and combat training (not actual combat because when I was in there were no conflicts, just don’t want to be one of those guys trying to act like they’re something they’re not. Guys like that are reprehensible to me).

So I have a basic understanding of freeze dried food, MRE’s, and other storable food, chemical warfare training, being able to live off the land, etc. HOWEVER! Man there is a lot out there to choose from when supplying up. I’m sure most of it is good stuff but I just don’t want to stockpile something that looked good online but in reality isn’t worth the money. I also have limited knowledge of shelf life, quantities, and types of food to store.

I also think it would be fun to just meet some folks near me and make some like minded connections. I’m a big proponent of not reinventing the wheel, I’d love to find a mentor or mentors near me to connect and compare notes.

So is there a group in or near the area I mentioned that meets?

Retired medical professional, interested in meeting like minded people. I live between Chicago and Rockford. I have been prepping on my own for awhile. Have some skills but an weak in other areas. Just trying to connect, learn from others and provide support that others might need.
